Americans have forfieted books and reading?

At least that's the signal we got today.

We went to no less than 5 stores tonight. In which (except for the last one) we saw a TOTAL of two book cases. Seriously. Scads of sofas. Lots of loveseats. Tables by the thousands. Enough entertainment sets to kill a mule ... but bookcases?? Two. And they were ugly and tiny at that.

It is no wonder that America's youth are fat, lazy and illiterate. Their parents only buy tables for them to eat at, entertainment sets to "parent" them while the parents are away, and sofas for them to lounge in.

That's just my opinion, though.

So where did we finally find a book case? Staples. That's right. Not a furniture store. Not a "Home Store". No. They had beds and sofas and tables. We found a nice set at an office supply store. I guess the average masses don't read books any more, thus have no need for shelves.

Oh well. At least we found some.
