Is God involved?

Proverbs 16:3 Commit your deeds to Yaweh, and your plans shall succeed.

Today God brought me to that verse, then asked me a simple question: "If you've asked me to be a part of your plans, and I say no, what then?"

Now... God knows the answers, of course. So why is he asking me the question? Because I asked God to be a part of my "book writing" experiment, then trudged forward with it, as if by asking, I somehow commanded the God of the Universe to do my will.

If you haven't noticed... The Universe is a pretty big place, and I'm not in control of it.

"Commit your deeds..." Deeds are tiny steps in an overall plan. But here's the catch: We can't tell God what to do. We must ask. And when God says he wants no part in it right now, then we, too, must take no part in it. We must move on and go where God goes.

If we choose to stay behind and work on "our pet project," then when God moves on, we are outside of his will, and open for attack.

"Commit your deeds" implies more than just asking God to take part in YOUR life. It implies that the deeds you take are part of a bigger plan. And both the deeds and the big plan are what GOD wants. If you are doing what God wants, then your plan will succeed because God will succeed on your behalf.

So, are you succeeding at your current job? Your current task? Your current financial plan? Your current marriage? Your current life? Your current school? Your current dream?

If not, then you have to step back and ask yourself the same question: 1) Did you ask God to be a part of it? 2) And did God agree?

If not, move on. It is REALLY hard to move on from a dream or a place of security, but each deed (tiny step in the big plan) must be what God wants you to do. If you submit your will to his in this way, all of the things he wants you to do WILL succeed.
